Principle of Instruction: The principle of instruction for this lesson is to continue the students understanding and work with addition and regrouping with three digit numbers. This will be done by using different technologies to help broaden their understanding and usage of regrouping.
Problem-Centered: The students will be shown different online applications that they can use in order to help them become experts on addition with regrouping using three digit numbers. They will eventually be able to use the skills they will learn in this lesson to count money in real life situations in their future.
Activation: The Voki video will be played in order to activate the student's prior knowledge. The Voki will share with the students that they have previously taken part in regrouping lessons using one or two digit numbers; however this lesson is level 3, meaning they are going to be working with three digit numbers.
Demonstration: The lesson will begin by the whole class watching the Voki video. Then, the teacher will play another short video for the students. This video will teach them about how to add three digit numbers with regrouping. This will demonstrate step by step how to add three digit numbers and provide them with a specific example where it walks them through the process. This will prepare them for when they will practice solving similar problems all on their own.

Application: The teacher will pass out a math worksheet to each student that was made on a math worksheet website. This worksheet presents 15 three-digit math addition problems with regrouping. This is their opportunity to practice applying what they have learned from the video above.
Integration: After they have had time for practice, a padlet activity will end the lesson. They will be given a word problem of a real life situation (involving money) that requires them to solve a three digit addition problem with regrouping and all the students will be expected to solve the problem on padlet and give an explanation as to how they got to their answer. This will show the students how addition with regrouping can come in handy in everyday life. The teacher will explain to the students that they will be expected to use what they have learned in the classroom today in their everyday lives as well. Being able to add one, two, and three digit numbers is a required skill that will show up in many different aspects of their life (like with money) and it is a skill they need to master in life.
